Tung Chung is undergoing one of Hong Kong's most ambitious urban expansions. The government's Tung Chung New Town Extension (東涌新市鎮擴展計劃) will nearly double the town's population capacity, bringing new residential towers, commercial hubs, waterfront promenades, and improved transport links.
東涌正進行香港其中一項最具規模的城市擴展計劃。政府的東涌新市鎮擴展計劃將令東涌人口容量接近倍增，帶來全新住宅大廈、商業樞紐、海濱長廊及改善的交通配套。

Tung Chung East Reclamation東涌東填海發展
A major reclamation project on the eastern side of Tung Chung Bay creating approximately 130 hectares of new land. Planned for around 40,000 new residents with residential towers, a waterfront promenade, retail, and community facilities.
東涌灣東面的大型填海工程，新增約130公頃土地，規劃容納約40,000名新居民，設有住宅大廈、海濱長廊、零售及社區設施。
Tung Chung West Expansion東涌西擴展
The western expansion covers approximately 40 hectares of existing low-density land near Yat Tung Estate. It will provide additional public and private housing, green corridors, and enhanced pedestrian connectivity to the MTR.

Tung Chung Line Extension & New Station東涌綫延伸及新站
MTR is extending the Tung Chung Line with two new stations — Tung Chung East (東涌東) and Tung Chung West (東涌西) — to serve the expanded new town. This will significantly improve connectivity and reduce travel times within the district.

Citygate Outlets is planning further expansion to accommodate growing visitor and resident demand. The new eastern district will also feature a dedicated commercial hub with offices, hotels, and waterfront dining to complement the residential growth.

Waterfront Promenade & Eco-Corridor海濱長廊及生態走廊
A continuous waterfront promenade is planned along the new eastern reclamation, connecting to existing parks and the Lantau Trail. An eco-corridor will preserve natural habitats while providing green recreational space for residents.
